Supporting breast cancer research
October is Breast Cancer month and this year Ice River Springs is doing more than ever to raise money in support.
Every one of our facilities is organizing something. At our head office we are running and walking in the Run 4 Cure and donating water to all the participants and volunteers. In Halton we have a team in the Mud Run for the Canadian Cancer Society. As the month progresses we will add photos of each of our teams activities to our Facebook page.
We are pleased once again to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Last year we donated a substantial sum to each and this year we hope to beat the amounts. Stay posted.
We have also been encouraging our retail customers to sell “pink” bottled water made of 100% recycled plastic. Each purchase helps us support this worthy health cause and expresses our corporate values that promote good health and preservation of the environment.
Thanks to everyone who entered our summer contest “Everyone Wins with Ice River Green”. We are sending out bottles of Osprey Organics Maple Syrup to the winners. Colleen Nowlan is the lucky winner of the Adirondack chairs made by CR Plastics which are made from recycled plastic that cannot be turned into new recyclable products, including the plastic bottle caps we collect in our recycling operation.
An article in the June edition of the PETpla.net Insider describes how the Ice River Springs company is all three: a bottler, a recycler and organic producer. The article describes the technical aspects of how the company recycles PET plastic producing 100% recycled content bottles and also bottles water as well as producing organic foods.
The article appears on page 20 and 21 of the June 2015 issue.

Poured over ice Osprey Organic Maple Water is a refreshing summer drink
GREY COUNTY, ON, June 23, 2015 /CNW/ – Osprey Organics Maple Water is now available for sale to retailers and foodservice operators in North America.
What is Osprey Maple Water? It is the sap of maple trees that is collected with nothing added nor removed and packaged aseptically in one liter Tetra Pak cartons. It has a refreshing gently nutty flavor and is slightly sweet. It is completely unlike maple syrup, which is thick and sweet. They are similar only in their source – they both come from maple trees.
Osprey Organics Maple Water is harvested from maple forests in Osprey Township, Ontario, surrounded by farmland that is certified organic and free from agricultural chemicals.
Osprey Organics Maple Water can be chilled and enjoyed or served over ice with a slice of lemon or a sprig of mint. It can also be used instead of water when making coffee. The result is richer and more satisfying.
Maple Water is one of many organic products being launched that are healthy and good for the area’s farmland. “Osprey Maple water is a beverage that fulfills our mission to make products that are good for health and good for the planet,” states James Gott, Osprey Organics President. “We are passionate about harvesting the goodness from the land and taking care of it for the benefit of this and future generations.”
Maple water contains over 46 nutrients including a variety of vitamins, potassium, calcium, magnesium, amino acids, antioxidants and large organic molecules that have potential health benefits. It is only 25 calories per 250 mL serving.
Demand for natural healthy beverages is growing rapidly. Coconut water sales, for instance, are now over $500 million in North America having grown fivefold over the last few years.
